Ahmad Butt, M.A., Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor
The human spirit and mind is much more powerful than we can understand.
A Short History
I entered the helping and counseling field because of the intrinsic value in understanding, acceptance and compassion for our fellow individuals. There are several sides to a story, and I’m hoping to assist with clarity to the ambivalence and ambiguity of truth and perception.
I hope to meet and build a working relationship with individuals who are inspired to better their circumstance. I am fortunate to work in different modalities and settings, which affords me the ability to see
recovery from the earliest to the latest stages. I began my work in the mental health field over a decade ago as a research assistant focusing on sexual deviance and sexual offenders. Soon after, I assisted in research concerning level of attachment amongst college students.
In my time working in the mental and behavioral health field, I have primarily focused on mood disorders, anger management, anxiety oppositional and defiant behavior, parenting coaching, and men’s issues. I approach my work through a psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral perspective. As a result of finding that levity is an important component in recovery, I incorporate appropriate use of humor during sessions.
