Practice Active Hope. We have got to be active participants with our hopes, ambitions, purpose and well-being.

Brian Nandy is the founder of BN Counseling, LLC, an integrative and multi-disciplinary counseling practice providing therapeutic coaching to highly driven adults and professionals, recognizing their capacity to become more of their highest selves.

A SHORT HISTORY

Brian at 5-years old, in a discussion about God, had told his grandmother, that when he grew up, he wanted to help people feel better about themselves.

Originally from Malaysia, in his adolescence, due to the economic circumstances of the time, delayed the progression of his ambition and purpose. Instead of giving up, he worked for anyone who would employ him, from working at a gym, at two different boutiques, to becoming a singer at a resort where — he began to imagine all the possibilities in the world.

Brian then worked as a creative copywriter at two different advertising agencies specializing best at humanitarian and social justice causes. He saved his money, came to America with a scholarship, and 2.5-years later graduated summa cum laude in Psychology and was awarded the honor of “Student Marshall.” Next, Brian obtained his Masters in Behavioral Sciences and once again was awarded the honor of “Symbolic Graduate Student”.  All of these achievements were done with no academic debt and much to his credit— with great humility and an innate ability to create and nurture opportunities.  Hence, the mission to inspire hope, a “think in possibilities” growth mindset, a practice of Active Hope, where the glass is always full, even when it is cracked.

Brian Nandy is a highly-respected and sought-after psychotherapist who helps, adults and professional learn about their character strengths and virtues to overcome their complex challenges. Serving as Program Director and Clinical Supervisor at a School Based Counseling Program and Private Practice, he runs groups and conducts workshops that integrate recreation and artistic expression.

On May 19th, 2023, Brian Nandy presented at the TEDxBayonne event about the practice of ACTIVE HOPE. He talked about how hope had to be activated and cultivated to overcome psychological battles, and how one’s envisioned future is dependent upon how active does a person participated in their self-improvement and ambitions. He offers four practical ways to practice active hope, that gets us to unstuck from our despair and propels our potential.

My Hopeful Journey WorkbookOn March 7, 2022, Brian Nandy, in collaboration with his Creative Director friend, Karen Yen, published My HopeFULL Journey Workbook and My HopeFULL Journey Vision Map as a way to attend to the hopelessness that many experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the Vision Map and Workbook was a way for family and friends, as well as clients and patients, to be able to engage in the creation of their preferred realities.
